Undefeated on a night with a huge weekly turn-out (38?), Albert wins the glory and the big cash, defeating Caleb in the finals who had defeated Brian in the semis.
Frank Perez, 70's veteran, returned to action with a big win over Tad Gibson with tricky right wall overs on the drift. His wife and veteran Donna vows to return to play in two weeks. Robert Hernandez practiced an hour with us, and will be in action in a week or two.
With these vets plus Albert and Phil in da House, the place was Rectro to da Max, razzlin, dazzli, liftin and gyratin, breakin and brawli on Table all night long!

Thats twice that the record was broken for the most players at SRO with 42 & 38 players, thats an awesome feat congrats to Brian and those that help pull it off.
plus some rare first for the July 30th weekly
the first time that there was 3 weeklies with 32+ players in a month & the first time that a weekly had 30+ players 2 weeks after a Major with 38

It was an anomoly. Can't take credit for anything other than bringing my family and having a friend bring herself and kids. Mike Cummings also has family in from out of town whocame. And it just seemed to be a night that nearly all regulars came out. The problem is that it was too much. On special occasions, having so many people is great. But anything more than 32 gets to making the tournament very late. And we can push back the start time to maybe 8:15 but we have never had success starting any earlier than that on a weekday just because people need time to get home from work and then come up and start warming up.
With the committee being formed, discussing a cap may be among the considerations. We have to weight the value of having so many which makes our numbers awesome versus the cost to being there until 2:30 am.

I think a cap of 32 people would be great. But it is always a good problem to have when there are too many people.
I will not be playing until Ramadan is over (around September 12th), so see you then.

Congratulations to Colin Cummings for his weekly win Friday, August 20 at SRO in the largest weekly tournament field ever. 44 players. He defeated a very hot Goofy Tony Morris in the Finals who was playing the strongest AH he has played this year. Colin was on the winners' side and took the tournament set 2 games to 1, 7-2; 3-7; and 7 to 4. Payton Shelley took third losing a close match to Colin earlier. These two young players are Terminators on the rise.
