Hey guys trying to get some information so we can get the best deal on hotels for 2012. This year we did not have enough people stay at the tournament hotel to secure the lowest possible rate. I am curious on where players stayed during the 2011 UNAP International Air Hockey Championships. If the majority of players stayed at another hotel I am be able to get a rate with them in the future instead.

Thanks
Donovan

From talking with other players from out of town, I think it was a mix between the Springhill Suites, a LaQuinta, and one other place. But if youre looking for full info: Goran, Dan, Billy and I had 2 rooms at the Springhill, that hotel was really convenient and they did give us a $10 discount on their regular rate. I'd probably still stay there for 70-90 a night unless another deal was too good to pass up.

Hi Donovan,

Harvey Thornburg and I stayed at the Sheraton Brookhollow hotel, just across the freeway from SRO. Map link: http://tinyurl.com/SheratonToSRO

In addition to being within eyesight of the tournament, the main reason I stayed there was that I was able to spend points instead of cash for the room. Given how close it is, you might consider contacting them to see what kind of group rate they'd offer.

Thanks for looking ahead to next year,
Randal

There was a $20 discount if we would have reserved 20 rooms. Once we did not meet that level it reduced to just $10.

Randal I understand using points for travel and can't blame anyone for staying somewhere for free.

I am also curious of the prices paid. The Springhill would have been only $68 a night. Not sure if the LaQuinta is cheaper or not.

Have to check with Chuck or the Kellers but I think the LaQuinta was in the 50s a night.

I stayed at the Best Value Inn & Suites at 43rd St. I paid $65 for a suite with refrig, microwave and a completely separate bedroom. They also have regular rooms that are cheaper.

Correction: it's America's Best Value Inn & Suites.

No reason to wait. I want to make sure we secure the best rate possible. I need to know the reasoning players are using so I don't secure rooms at a hotel players are not going to use. From those that stayed at the selected hotel I hear nothing but good things. However, I was called several times by the hotel letting me know we were well below the numbers needed to secure the lowest rate.

From the responses so far I don't see any reason to switch the hotel.
