Houston Weeklies are back at Kicks Indoor! (0 comments)
I am excited to announce that we will begin holding weekly double elimination tournaments at a brand new facility in the Air Hockey capital of the world. Kicks Indoor Soccer has been gracious enough to give us whatever we need to expand our sport in the Houston area. Kicks is a full-service indoor soccer facility like you have never seen before. It is centrally located on Shepherd Drive just south of I-10… right down the road from Time Out. In addition to the top-notch soccer field, they offer a variety of other “alternative” indoor sport leagues such as dodgeball, wiffleball, ultimate frisbee and more. After talking with the management, we agreed that Air Hockey would be the perfect addition to their expanding business.

Kicks has everything we ever needed in a weekly venue and more. We’ll begin the tournaments with one beautiful Dynamo Photon table located in the game room area of the facility. There is plenty of space for more tables and as long as we prove to the management that we are serious about getting players out each week, they will order a second one as soon as possible. The sky is the limit from there. The facility has plenty of space and they are willing to use it if we can show them what Air Hockey is really all about.

If the Air Hockey is not enough for you, Kicks has a bar (with snacks too) that is open until 2AM most nights and they will even have a waitress on duty the night of our weekly. There is a seating area right between the bar and game room so people can kick back between matches and socialize. The place is packed full every night with 20 and 30-something athletes who are itching for competition. The word is when they finish their scheduled soccer matches, they often like to hang around and drink and socialize for a few hours. These are just the type of competitve people who will quickly be lured into the Air Hockey underworld. A full kitchen is in the works and should be open soon. There are a few TV’s scattered around and they are in the process of getting a whole lot more. Music is pumping throughout the entire place all night… loud enough even for the soccer players to hear. Soon, Kicks will also offer various fitness programs as well as an exercise facility. Basically, we couldn’t ask for anything more. They have it all and they are still growing… just like us!

So here’s the deal...

Every Tuesday, we’ll kick off the evening at 7PM with a "Beat the Pro" event. Beginner and Amateur players will pay a $1 entry fee to play one game with the resident pro. This event can continue after the tournament too if time allows and more people want to enter. All entry fees will go into a pot and the first new player to finally defeat a pro will take home the entire prize fund. The weekly tournament will begin at around 8PM and go until we’re finished. Entry fees will be $5 for everyone except newbies… they play for free.

We are going to work very hard to make sure this new venue becomes the next home for Houston Air Hockey. We are going to work overtime to make sure Air Hockey grows in this city. Kicks is ready, willing and able to help us do that, so we should not let this opportunity pass. We need each and every one of you Air Hockey players to come out to Kicks and show these guys what we’re all about. I know there’s only one table… but that’s very temporary. If we can get 16 players at the first two tournaments, I’m confident they will be on the phone with their game vendor the next day.

We’ll be calling each and every one of you to re-emphasize how important it is that you show your support. We need you to play so we can entice some new blood to come into the ring. Our future depends on you!

The first Kicks tournament will be held on Tuesday July 19th at 8PM. All are welcome to stop by the facility anytime before that to play a few games or even a challenge match or just to check out<
