The 2002 Pro-Am League Playoff Results are in!!! (0 comments)
Here are the official results for the league finale. Only those who participated are included in these rankings, no-shows and injured players are not ranked.

Playoff winners: 1st - Anthony Marino; 2nd - Brian Accrocco

Playoff winners: 3rd - Phil Arnold; 4th - Travis Luscombe; 5th - Niki Jaquette

1.) Anthony Marino - He tore through the entire tournament until the finals, where Brian pushed him hard to the 7th game. He won, and he earned it! In general his shots were very crisp and accurate all night. He never really gave anyone a chance to work their offenses against him.

2.) Brian Accrocco - He has recently been frustrated by Anthony's game. Going into the league, he was picked to win it so anything less than #1 would have been a disappointment.

3.) Phil Arnold - Played very well. Was pushed really hard by Jason R, but could not seem to get his offense going against Brian (whom he faced twice).

4.) Travis Luscombe - Played his way to the top of the Experts(some would say the new pro's). Really played solid the entire league and deserved a good finish...it's good to get a trophy, huh Trav?

5.) Niki Jaquette - Played intensely until she got to Phil (Phil played his best match against her). I feel she got one of the toughest draws. She faced 2 southpaws to start the tourney, both of whom (Jason S. and Travis) were playing very well. She fought hard in the 5/6 spinoff and earned herself a trophy.

6.) Andrew Flanagan - Also had a very tough draw in the tournament. Starting vs. Brian Accrocco then having to face Jason S & Travis in his 2nd and 3rd loosers bracket matches...no rest for the weary. Very tough loss with match point either way in the 5/6 spinoff...a roll-in to win (gee, thanks Niki!)

7.) Jason Sherman - Carried his fire from Winner Take All night into this tournament. He's playing very well. Nice, crisp shots.

8.) Kirk Saunders - I really didn't get to watch Kirk play. He did finish well, though. He was able to defeat Ceasar (who was playing very well )in 7 games.

9.) Jason Rios - Really, I felt Jason underachieved in this tournament. He had a tough match vs. Phil that went to game 7. Then he faced his practice partner (Jason S.) and couldn't get his emotions back after his loss to Phil. He got fired up again and cleaned up in the 9/12 spinoffs.

10.) Cesar Tax - Really has been playing well lately. Partnered up with Lazaro in Winner Take All Night doubles, he seemed to give Tim W. (who I'm sure would admit was rusty) alot of trouble because of his unique style of defense and his hard shots.

11.) Johnny Raia - Managed to give himself a walnut-sized knot on his forehead (long story...). Through the double-vision he still managed to take down Lazaro for 11th. He gets the ironman award for that :)

12.) Lazaro Garcia - After being sent to the 9/12 spinoff he consorted with ale to calm his soul. I think he's still working on that...

13.) Keith F. - He also got the double-southpaw draw being sent to the losers bracket by Travis, then facing the Tank (Jason Sherman) in his next match.

Stay tuned, Sabai Entperises will be starting registration for our next pro-am league in January and plan to have it wrap up right before the nationals in Vegas so everyone will be primed. We'll also be starting registration for the masters league in the next week or so. The masters league will start in January.
