Air-hockey players of the world - it is my pleasure to announce, for the third consecutive year, the great air-hockey city of Houston, TX USA will host a USAA Sanctioned International event. United Airhockey Promotions LLC in conjunction with www.airhockeyworld.com, usbirthcertificate.com, www.protablesports.com, and Jamie G Design LLC proudly present the 2011 International Airhockey Championships, August 4-7 at SRO Sports Bar and Grill in Houston, TX, USA!

Online registration will begin May 1 with pre-registration, regular, and late registration periods.

PRIZES

Cash awards will be paid to top participants and will be based on entry fee revenue. A more detailed prize structure will be published at the end of regular registration.

Trophies will be awarded to top finishers.

SANCTIONING AND KEY POLICIES

All events will be run in accordance with the rules of play as established by the United States Air-hockey Association (USAA).

Players of all ages will be permitted to participate in open singles and open doubles and any other special events as later announced.

All tournaments will be run using the standard double elimination format, with matches in the Open Singles main tournament being best 4 games of 7. Some Open Singles matches in early rounds or early elimination rounds may be reduced to 3 games of 5 pending number of competitors. Open Doubles matches will be the best 3 games of 5, and Youth event match length will be determined based on number of competitors.

A new spinoff bracket process will be used to help determine final placings in Open Singles. The new system will be published on www.airhockeyworld.com. The purpose of this new system is to experiment with formats that are fair, yet more efficient in regards to player time and available table resources.

A maximum of 24 seeds per each of the 3 Junior Championships age divisions (72 total); a maximum of 64 teams for Open Doubles; a maximum of 128 seeds for Open Singles

Players under 18 may compete in the youth event in the appropriate age group division in one youth tournament only.

Competitors in the youth event may play in an older division but may not play below their age level.

Players under 18 years must have a parent/guardian present.
