Illinois Lottery Launches Second Chicago Blackhawks® Cash Scratch-off Tickets
Air hockey tournaments scheduled across Chicagoland to highlight new tickets and give players additional chances to win cash and prizes
CHICAGO - January 13, 2011 - The Illinois Lottery has launched the second Chicago Blackhawks® Cash scratch-off ticket, and will kick off the Chicagoland air-hockey tournaments on January 20, 2011 to promote the ticket.
"This game was a huge success with our players and Chicago Blackhawks® fans last year that we couldn't deny bringing it back into play again, " said Paul Arnell, director of promotions for the Illinois Lottery. "We're looking forward to engaging our players with another exciting round of air hockey tournaments and finding the 2011 champion."
To promote the new tickets, Illinois Lottery will host 9 air-hockey tournaments across the Chicagoland area to engage players with the ticket and a fun winter activity. At each tournament event, participants aged 18 years or older will place their name on an entry form when they arrive. At the beginning of the tournament thirty-two players will be randomly selected and placed in a bracket style format in the order in which they were picked. The contestants will face-off until the last person standing is crowned the Air Hockey Star. The winner at each event will win $500 in cash and a Blackhawks® jersey. This year, Illinois Lottery is offering six different Blackhawks® Cash tickets, and each ticket showcases one of six Blackhawks® players. The tickets will feature team members Patrick Kane, Jonathan Toews, Patrick Sharp, Marian Hossa, Brian Campbell and Duncan Keith. Lottery players can not only win money and prizes from the ticket, but fans are also encouraged to collect the tickets to add to their Chicago Blackhawks® memorabilia collection.
Each ticket costs $5 and is currently available for purchase at Illinois Lottery retailers across the state. Players can win a variety of prizes ranging from a Chicago Blackhawks® jersey up to $100,000 in cash. The ticket also offers second-chance opportunities where players can win a pair of season tickets or an opportunity travel with the team.
