 Are you ready to Kick off the New Year
with a weekend of Air Hockey at Kicks?
The new year is going to bring great things to the Air Hockey community in Houston. We're already working hard behind the scenes to set up some of the biggest events in Air Hockey history this year. Keep your eyes and ears tuned in for upcoming event announcements!
We're going to KICK off the year's festivities this FRIDAY, JANUARY 6th, with the first weekly tournament of 2006! This one will be seeded randomly and we're starting the points standings over for the new season, so be sure and come out to get a jump start on the ratings! The first matches will be called at 8PM, so be sure to get there early to get in some practice games. The SWEEP POT is still going strong and will start out at $50! The entry fee is still $5 for everyone and, as always, newcomers are Free!
On Saturday, over 200 Ultimate Frisbee players will meet at Kicks for Texas' First Indoor Ultimate Frisbee Tournament! This is the perfect opportunity to expose hundreds of competitive-minded athletes to the wonderful world of competitive Air Hockey. Let's just see how these frisbee masters fare on the table! The last time an Ultimate Frisbee player entered an Air Hockey tournament, he wound up slaughtering everyone he faced... except the World Champ.
Saturday, January 7th at 3pm, we will be holding an Amateur Singles Event designed to attract as many new players as possible. The entry fee for this handicapped single-game double-elimination event will be just $2 and participation is open to all beginner, amateur and expert level players.
Meanwhile... throughout the entire day we'll be offering a Beat the Pro contest for all beginner and amateur players. The entry fee for a chance to beat the resident pro is only $1 plus game costs. This event will begin with a $25 prize pot - which will increase with all the entry fees - and will end if/when someone beats the pro!!
Come on out to Kicks this weekend and show some support for the local Air Hockey scene! Even if you can't commit enough time to play, at least stop by on Saturday to play a few pickup games and to hang out with some of the Ultimate players. These guys are really fun and have a great competitive spirit.
