I've created a brand new set of web pages for you guys to be able to input matches to the website directly. If you have internet access where you're playing (via iphone, laptop/wifi, etc?), you can even record the matches game-by-game on the website. I need to tweak it a bit before it can be used via Blackberry. If you want access to be able to enter Challenge Match or Rating Match results, just reply to this and I'll set you up. Nick has already offered himself and Chris Lee for the Colorado area, and I've already set up Illinois, as well.

Here are the instructions for how to use the new screens:

Go here after you log in (it's in the "Events / Local Play" section if you need to find it manually):

http://www.airhockeyworld.com/weeklymanager.asp

You should see an appropriate section for your local venue. If you click on "Local Matches", you'll see all of the most recent challenge matches and sets that you've entered (probably none yet, since this is new). There will also be a link for "Start New Local Match". If you click that link, it should auto-populate today's date. You'll need to update the "Type" of match (USAA Challenge or Mitic Challenge Set), Sets to win match (1 by default), and Games to win set (4 by default). Don't worry about "Round #" for now - that's for the future when we'll be able to set up leagues.

It should auto-populate your venue's location details, and then you'll get to choose the players involved. The drop-down lists will show the local players (anyone who has been recorded in AHW's weekly tournament system or this challenge match system for this venue) on top. Below that, it will show all of the players in the AHW database. Look for the name in the list, and if you can't find them at all (brand-new player), choose the "- New Player" option at the top and type their name out to the right. Once both players are entered, click "Update Match Settings" to go to the score entry section.

In the score entry section, you will be able to enter in scores either one game at a time (left side) or one set at a time (right side). Once you start entering scores, you'll see a button at the very bottom that says "Delete Last Recorded Game". If all of the scores have been entered, it will also show the result of the match at the bottom, as well as a button that says "Confirm Match Result". Once you've confirmed the match result, you won't be able to edit the settings, players or scores again, so make sure everything's correct before confirming, otherwise you'll have to delete the match and start over!

(continued...)

Confirming the match will bring you back out to the Match Management screen, where you should see your most recent match on the top. On the right side, you'll see a link that says "Apply Rating" - this will take you to a screen where it will show you what the Mitic rating changes will be as a result of the match, which then you will have the option to apply those changes to the ratings. You'll also see a "Don't Apply" link - this is if you want to prevent the system from applying the Mitic ratings to a match. I've only had a couple of instances where this is applicable, but I've got it there just in case. Also, there's a "Delete" option.. pretty self explanatory.

You may have also noticed a "Copy Match" button. What this is good for is if you have a lot of matches being played on the same day with the same match type, number of sets per match and number of games per set. It will copy all of the settings of the match (type, sets/match, games/set, players involved, location, date), but it WON'T copy the scores. So, what you can do is if you know there's going to be a bunch of mitic sets, for example, you can record the first match, and then hit "Copy Match", and it will copy all of the settings, and then you can go in, change the names of the players involved if you need to, and then record that game with all of the rest of the settings already entered in.

Let me know if you have any questions/suggestions. This whole set of pages is pretty new, so it might not be perfect. :) I tried to test it as much as I could, though, and I really want people to like it and use it. I made it primarily for you guys, since you play so many sets and I figured you could use a better match-entering system. I eventually want to expand it to add other types of games, like press-your-luck, for example. That will have to wait until after the world championships, though - I've got to start working on the registration page for that.
