I win one of the tournaments by defeating in the finals Sapanski who dominates airhockey at the time. None of these tournaments were ever handicapped by the way. Best part for me was that ALL the best players played that night and I won! As the article stated, I wasn't expected to win any of these tournaments. It was a long shot but I did.

Notice the earlier terminology: "cross over bank". He must mean what we now call "an over the mallet rw bank."
I recall Ken Forhinger, Keith Sapanski, and of course Mike Dickstein.
Keith was the best player, but Dickstein lasted longer and played against a bigger and better field of players as time went on.
I never knew you, Vince, back then; but in 75 at the NY Brunswick Tourney I met, played, and defeated a John Terry, who was coached by Mike D and was from that area.
Mike and Ken flew to the 1979 National at the University of Houston and played, finishing in the mid range. Dickstein defeated Karl Compton in a bitter tournament set, as both were known to speak their mind. Mike was fast and furious in his play and had the great Rolf Moore against the ropes before the locals started yelling at Rolf to think who he was playing. Rolf woke up and hit 7 scores in a row to take the final game.
