- one big difference, one is a hall of famer and the other isn't

Is any air hockey player in the hall of fame? If there was an air hockey hall of fame, there could be a very strong case made for putting Don James in it - first ballot even. If the criteria for getting in a hypothetical air hockey hall of fame is that you have to have a single's world championship title, there would be only a few members.

Speaking of, someone should start an air hockey hall of fame. I think Mark Robbins has toyed around with this idea before.

Doing an AH Museum/Hall of Fame is definitely on my agenda before I run out of time and get stuffed in a Brunswick coffin. :)

I don't like the idea of an elected official Hall of Fame because of the voting and politics involved. Present the players, their records, tapes of them, and let people decide on their own.

Speaking of which - it'a farce that MINNIE MINOSO isn't in the baseball H of F!

Minnie Minoso in the HoF ??

I mean its a amazing he was able to play IN 5 decades in the MLB, his career was effectively over in 1964 and his appearances in 1976 and 1980 were publicity stunts as was his attempt to have a team sign him sometime in the early 90's.. That not with standing, Minoso's career was nothing special in regards to Hall of Fame status.

Forgetting his comeback stunts... if Ron Santo finally made the Hall (after his death when he couldn't appreciate it), Minnie deserves it while still alive. Why?

Despite missing a bunch of prime years due to being black/Cuban, and being a rookie at age 28, Minnie still hit .298 lifetime.

From the following article: http://www.chicagomag.com/Chicago-Magazine/The-312/December-2011/Why-Minnie-Minoso-Should-Be-in-the-Hall-of-Fame-and-Why-Hes-Not/

"In Minoso's 11 seasons as a full-time player, he was clearly one of the top five players in the American League, ranking ahead or in lockstep with many all-time greats. He ranked fifth in batting average (.305), fourth in on-base percentage (.395), second in hits (1861), second in runs (1,078), second in total bases (2,879), second in extra-base hits (579), second in steals (193) and second in triples (81). Miñoso also won three Gold Gloves."

Minnie was the pioneer for Latin players and paved the way for the likes of Roberto Clemente. See the article for more on why Minnie deserves to be in. I watched Minnie back in the late 50's - early 60's and he was one of the most exciting baseball players to watch ever.

Ooookay and I think we've pretty much derailed from the topic - if you want to talk baseball, do it in the off-topic forum.
