Y'all come to the Friday night ah weekly at SRO. Let's have a big turn-out with Nick G. flying in from Colorado. Rally to the Texas Flag at SRO to defend our weekly, our ratings, our tables, our women, and our money!

Plus, Nick will do what no one to my knowledge has done: play a tournament and four matches within a 48 hour time span!!! That is a possible 200 games!

The matches will be held at Donovan Court and will be Nick G against the world.

Four fine Houston gladiators step enter the arena against Nick. Together they hope to send Nick back to Colorado with no wins and four big losses!

But, what do the experts predict??

Vs Mike Cummings?

Vs Donovan?

Vs. August?

Vs. Syed?

Well, you tell me???

You're right, I don't think that has ever been done before however; I did drive to Houston with Nizzi in 2001 and played six 4 of 7 challenge matches in less that 48 hours. I beat Marino 4-3 and then on the same day lost to Ehab 2-4. The next day I lost to both Brian and Danny 0-4. On the final day I lost to Owen 2-4 and I don't remember the last match. I don't remember how many games I played but it was a ton.

Billy was too right. Nick wins all four matches, 4 to 0, 4 to 1, 4 to 0; with only Syed playing him close, 4 for Nick and 3 for Syed.

Stellar performance by Nick who played far better than in the July World.

Let history recall his Deed with folk songs and tales by the campfires in Colorado for years to come.

Yeah, I was telling players tonight about your multiple matches, Keith, as an all time record. But I thought it was in Georgia against Don and Billy and others.

I do want to correct Phil on his scorecard.

Even thought there was Pillage in Houston, I did muster to win 1 set from the former master and for the record I am proud of that accomplishment.

4-1, 4-1, 4-0 and 4-3 are the correct match scores!

Mea Culpae. Indeed, you did. And you won that set in his first match when Nick was strong and fresh.

I just got back home. First and foremost I would like to thank everyone who played me this weekend or came even just came out to watch. As always, the Houston players were commendable in their hospitably, particularly Donovan for hosting all of the matches. It was really cool to meet some of the newer players and to have them excited enough about Air-Hockey to come out and watch some of the match play!

I thoroughly enjoyed all four matches and I'm grateful to Mike, August, Donovan and Syed for agreeing to play me. Each player fought valiantly to the last point and seemed to get better as the match progressed. Not to disparage any of my opponents, but against each the first set was not particularly difficult and I thought I might be able to cruise to a relatively easy victory. However, each player raised their game admirably and made each match a battle. Syed particularly showed great heart and will power in playing 7 grueling sets through injury (5 of the 7 sets went 6 or more games including 3 7 game sets in a row). Thanks also to Phil, Brian, Donovan, Mike, and Ryan for their help in reffing.

I had forgotten how much fun it was to travel to play matches and to be able to see and play against the varying styles of play that different locales have to offer. I will definitely have to do this again soon.

Nick

It was definitely one of my better matches, even though I lost. You have a great variety of shots and kept me off balance. But I think I did the same. :)

I definitely would have lost 4-0 or 4-1 last year, but thanks to many Houston players (August, Laz, Danny, Brian, Phil, etc), I am playing at a higher level than before.

Next time, I will win the 7th set. :)

Hope to see you in Vegas.

Take care.........

If Nicks goal was to improve his seed for the next tournament, he succeeded in doing that while playing in Houston. However, none of these matches that he played, was he an underdog in. Nicks finished master several times since 2006.

My main goal was to get practice. Specifically, I had been working on some ways to keep the puck on the table better in Houston and wanted to test out how they were coming along. Obviously, Houston is the best place to do that. Also, since I hope to have some solid performances in future tournaments, and playing well on Sundays is essential to having good tournaments, I wanted to test my endurance. I was extremely pleased with my ability to keep the puck on the table, and reasonably pleased with my endurance as well. So goals accomplished. But improving my seed was a nice bonus.
