Nick and I played a tune-up challenge match this afternoon to prepare for our upcoming matches. Nick wins 4-1 sets, 19-9 games. This match has been submitted.

I felt that I played very well early on in the match and lost some accuracy and some of my defense later on in the match. Nick played very well defensively for the majority of the match but struggled a little bit early on which allowed me to get a set and keep the games close. Once Nick found a rhythm on offense, and adjusted to what I was doing on offense, I was unable to keep up and I was unable to establish a secondary attack. On numerous occasions I found myself with leads in games early on but was unable to capitalize. Nick fought back several times to take back early leads that I had established. It was a good match to prepare for our upcoming matches and I know that it will help us both out.

I agree with Chris' analysis. Early on I was really in deep water and felt like I could lose the match. I was up 3-1 in the first set largely because Chris was not playing his best defense, but then he turned that around and won the next 3 games to take the set. He had his game going and I was struggling to find my offense. In the second set I really felt like he was playing better Air-Hockey than I was and I felt very fortunate to take the set. Early in the set I came back from 6-3 down and 3-0 down in different games. Possibly he relaxed a little when he built up the big leads. Had he won those 2 he would likely have had a 2-0 set lead, at which point it may have been difficult to break his momentum. By the third set my offense had come back and I felt much better about my game from then on, though Chris put up a great fight to the very end.

Originally, I was thinking I would just use this trip to Houston as a way to get into practice and put into use some of the things I have been working on to keep the puck on the table with the different conditions in Houston. However, after this match and a handful of other practice sessions with Chris I feel like my game is in a pretty good place and I might be able to make these upcoming matches competitive. So thank you, Chris, for the practice, and I really look forward to seeing everyone in Houston.

Glad to see some airhockey being played in Co. Do you guys have the scores? I've been jonesing for some air hockey. I haven't played since October. I've called Nizzi a few times but he refuses to return calls so if you guys are up for some practice let me know and I'll see what I can work up. If I can't get in practice I may miss my first nat's in 22 years. Hope that doesn't happen.

take it easy,

Hey keith. I am definitely game for practice. In fact, I will go ahead and challenge you now, and once you get into practice we should try to get a match or two in before nationals. I'll give you a call when I am back in denver

Hey Keith, the scores are here http://www.airhockeyworld.com/match.asp?matchid=19601 Nick and I have been trying to play every weekend since we live pretty much down the street from each other now. I know Mike Thomas is also interested in getting back in the fold so definitely let us know when you are down for some practice and we can all get together for some games. I'm playing Randal next Sunday at the Broomfield Rec Center. I guess its 6 bucks to get in and then you can play as much as you want. Maybe we can get some people together for some games after?
