Don just called me and we're set up for this Tuesday around 6pm @UIC. I'd like to make this a best of 7 sets... (I think we have until midnight).

My #23 ranking is on the line. Should be lots of fun.

I am calling for donavan to maybe win 3 or 5 games. Why would i put money on such a lopsided match.

would you give me 2-1 that he doesn't win 6 games?

I've seen this type of prediction from a 6'5" professional ah player here in Houston that said I wouldn't take a set from Keith. I took 2! I've got Donovan's back and will say he takes at least 1 set. Sorry Davis, I'm not a betting man. I don't remember seeing Dan play at the World's but don't underestimate Donovan's determination and skill.

Sorry Syed, I'm always about an inch short especially when a lw under is coming at me. Have a great match. Dan, Colin tells me he's watched your videos and says you have a great game. I didn't know he's been watching video.

Mike, I would be betting that Donovan WINS at least 6 games! Especially since Donovan practiced with me a few times, and I know what he is capable of. Plus, if I'm betting on him, he better take my phone call for advice :)

If they play best out of 7 sets, I could easily see Donovan taking 1-2 sets from Dan, and wouldn't be surprised if he won. Probably is, Dan is on his home turf, might get some coaching, and he has some disciplined drifts to work out of. If Don cannot effectively stop or slow down these attacks, he will be fighting from behind the whole match.

Oh, outstanding. I have tons of videos on my Vimeo account... pretty good quality. I believe Donovan will be streaming this match on ustream, and I hope to record the match as well and put it up on my Vimeo account.

I liked watching Don v. Chuck when he had it stream.. I just hope Don's connection is better.

Our history is pretty limited. We just played pick up games when he was in town when Mike challenged him and won. I think I got the better of him then... but since then I've doubled my experience at the table (and we helped Don with his lwu). I've played some 'marathon' sessions recently to make sure I can go the distance.

I predict 16-8 in Dan's favor. I could see Donovan taking a set, but not more than that. Dan's attack is much improved since the Nationals - more variety of drifts, shots, tempos, and better puck-snagging. If Dan's defense can zone in and limit the amount of charges (the biggest weakness of Dan's game), it will be a short match.

If Donovan's able to win, then he'll be playing the best that I've seen him.

I'll be there around 7 tonight.

Best of luck,
Billy

Everyone Pay UP!!!! Yeah I lost but I covered the spread! So the rest of you can...

Thanks to Billy and Brian for refing and Dan for taking the match on such short notice. Sorry I could not steam but Dan taped it and I am sure will post.

Q should be uploading the videos here:
http://vimeo.com/user3192952/videos

there are literally hundreds of videos up there now.

I love it when Donovan comes to town. It's always great to play such an intense competitor. I felt like I really got Don to move a lot in the first couple sets - and got a lot of cuts to fall. He started to sit a bit on my cuts, and had to either be incredibly accurate (and my accuracy left me in the 4th set)... and really work to set up my right wall unders. He's got such great reflexes that I just couldn't power my way to a win. I felt like Don scored most of his points with very accurate straights and a lot of overs from both sides (and I did a poor job of sweeping for the overs).

fun fun fun.

Syed, you are horrible at predictions :) But we respect that you are willing to put your opinion out there, so keep them coming(so I know where to put my money depending on how you bet :)

Just don't predict that I will win the next tourney and we're all good.

Thanks.. I completely understand where you're coming from in predicting Donovan's win, since I barely put up a fight against you at Nationals.

Congratulations, Dan.

Last i saw of you in July, i was very impressed. You reminded me a lot of Billy in your style. I expected you to win fairly well.

On the other hand, a 16-7 is a pretty good fight. Each set had to have been pretty close. Donovan has come a long way from the short time ago that he played like a real novice, with one arm behind his back.

These two guys will be making greater accomplishments in the future, i'm certain.
