Should be a very interesting conflict.
Donovan is number 36 so Chuck will be defending his own number 25 World Ranking. But Donovan is in practice and wants to show that his World Championship finish did not show his current prowess. Mitic points are 1408 for Forest and 1383 for Donovan; very even. Chuck emerged from the World Championships with impressive victories to finish in the top 25.
The ah world will be watching on live stream!

I refed this one, and I can say first hand it was a battle. Both players played well and professionally. But I have to give hats off to Chuck for the amazing amount of 7-6 games he won. I think that match would have gone the other way if not for that stat.
Thanks to Donovan for the little pick-up set we played afterwords. D. Brown 7177564 C. Green 5751777

Thanks to Chuck for taking the challenge on such short notice. Thanks to Chris for being a great host. Also thanks to all who watched live and kept us company during the match.
Man the game count tells a much different story than the set count. Losing 10 of 11, 7-6 games is rough. But it was a true battle.
On the upside I felt great physically which has not always been the case in past matches.

It was fun to watch. Thanks for setting up the camera.
The 7-6 games Chuck won were killer. I know Phil thought Don needed a "go-to" shot. To me, it looked like Don got a taste of Chuck's left wall under and was determined to shut that shot down. I think it made him a little too jumpy as Chuck was able to really hammer home crosses and cuts.
When Don got behind in the 2nd set, it seemed Don just went deeper into his bag of tricks (Don's got a deep game, and he just brought it all out). I think this hurt Don's accuracy a bit and instead of getting back to his bread n butter - he just kept trying more and more things - including too many banks. Chuck's defense is mostly a rail defense, so I thought Don could have hit a lot more straights - especially since Don did a really good job of mixing up where he took his shots (and taking away Chuck's ability to charge effectively). I thought when both players used delays and pump fakes - they scored very well. I was surprised it wasn't used more often. (I'm kinda sensitive to this since pump fakes/delays/offgoals are at least 50% of my game ).
When I played Chuck in Houston - hitting offgoals and pumpfakes were good at getting Chuck to charge - and I could hit a quick bank shot to an open goal. When he stayed back, I could take straight shots to each corner of his goal. Chuck's got a wicked left wall under, but I think his cuts and cross straights are just as deadly.
It was a really close match. I think Don could have taken control if he could have made a couple tiny adjustments - or maybe have just squeaked out a couple more 7-6 wins.
