I would like to officially challenge August Parra for his #16 ranking. August, please contact me at jrios09@gmail.com to arrange a date and time. I would like to play this soon if possible to allow time to rest before the WC. Thanks and I look forward to the challenge.

Great idea. I have a challenge match with August for June; but I don't care if he agrees to play you first; as long as he plays me and you consider so doing if you defeat him. What ya say to that?

Absolutely Phil. Should I come away victoious, I would immediately arrange a date to play against you. It will be a great challenge to beat August though. I don't have a winning record against him (think I may have won straight up against him once ever). Granted we never really play against each other either. I chose to challenge him for that exact reason though - he will make me better even if I lose and I will know what I need to work on before the WC.

OK, I will post the actual scores below but I would like to give a few thank you's and game notes first. Thank you to August for taking the time and playing me a challenge match, even in defeat I feel as though I accomplished a lot. Thanks to Keith Garcia and the Cummings family (Mike, Colin, Conner)for reffing the match and just being there in general.
Some of my take aways from the match: Aside from not winning, I feel really good about this match. I learned that I need a go to shot. There were 5 (7-6) games and I only won one of them. I know for fact that I had at least one posession in all of them. In particular, I was up 6-4 in the 7th game of the second set and couldn't put it away. That was a mental blow to me that I don't know if I ever really recovered from. It was frustrating for me that I would generally be the first to point 4 and 5 only to watch him catch up and win. Those are a few of my take aways that I need to fix. As I said going into the match, I was looking to improve and I know I did. I wanted to be competitive and I believe I was. I gave it my all. He was just better, handled the important points better and saved his go to shots for the right times. OK, I will stop boring you all with my jabber - here are the numbers.
Result: August defeats Jason Sets: 4-0 Games: 16-6 Points: 135-115 7-6 games: 4-1
