Does anybody have an estimated start time for the Friday Doubles tournament? I am about to book my flights today, and I want to make sure I get in to Houston and to SRO before the Doubles tourney would start.

I'm Eric Rood and, luckily, you're not.

This year we are starting the doubles tournaments at 4 pm. If you intend to play, I suggest taking a half day or take a full day off of work and arrive early. If we start any later than that, we end up there until midnight or 1 am, and most of the tournament team has to be on site by 9 am on Saturday morning. So we are starting earlier so that we can finish by 10 pm and let everybody get a good night of rest and be ready for open singles.

USAA President, Michael Rosen, has not yet formally announced the USAA meeting time, but unofficially, we had reserved from 10 am - 2 pm at SRO on Friday. Then we were giving meeting attendees a 2-hour break to prepare for doubles.

We have also reserved all day Thursday as a promotional and fun activity day. If you can afford another day, come in on Thursday and take part in the promotional activities.

Thanks,

Brian Accrocco

The best route that might get you to SRO a few minutes late would be take a cab or quick rent car to Beltway 8 and go west till you hit 290, then take 290 back toward Houston and exit Mangum, take the access road and look for NW Mall on your right (on 18th St.)

Or, leave the airport and take the Hardy Toll Road south to 610 and take it West toward the setting sun; then look for the 290 exit, and NW Mall will be nearby.

Both are about equal. Both ways would have a small toll of no more than 2 or 3 dollars.
