Just wanted to say thank you to Brian and his team (Travis, Marc, Andrew, Tad, and others) for hosting another great tournament. Congratulations to Danny for another win in singles and Danny and Goofy in doubles. Anthony played very well for not practicing at all. Brian played great and I can see a breakthrough coming in his future. Thank you all for playing.

Just wanted to mention some topics.

Most improved player:
Mike Cummings : he has only recently started playing air-hockey and is already an expert level player. He took Niki and Tad to seven games but unfortunately losing in the last game.

Best future prospect:
Collin Cummings. The above player's son is only 11 (12?) and already knows how to hit a cut and a right wall over from a circle drift and occasionaly mixes in a left wall over. He took Vic (expert) to 6 games. Lost 7-6 in the 6th game. Keith and Collin finished 4th in the doubles tournament. Cant wait to see more from Collin.

On a side note...Destiny (Anthony's daughter), played triples on my team after the tournament was over and OMG she has a blistering right wall under and a cross. Hope she plays in the main tournament next time.

Best shots of the tourny:
There could be more but the one I saw was: Brian was leading 6-4 against Anthony and Anthony came back to tie it. After a very long sequence of exchanging shots and very intense defensive stops, Brian takes the puck, does a fast drift and shoots an OFF SPEED on the cut side to win the game.

Exactly the same thing happened to Syed and August. Game 1, Syed up 6-4, August comes back to tie, Syed sets up for a cross straight but shoots a very slow OFF SPEED on the cut side to win the game.

Best set comeback of the tourny:
August down 0-3 to Andrew and very frustrated with the puck flying off a lot.
Calms himself down and goes on the win 4 in a row.

Best upsets:
Phil over Travis 4-2.

One of the best comebacks I have ever seen:

Brian and Anthony playing in the semi-finals. Brian is up 3 games to 1. Anthony wins the next 2. The seventh game Anthony scores first but soon finds himself down 3-1 quickly. It gets worse and finds himself down 6-2. Anthony calms down, changes his defense and slowly starts to execute perfect shot after perfect shot. The puck changes possessions at 6-6 a couple of times and then Anthony shoots a cross to complete the comeback and face Danny in the finals.

See you all in July......
Take care

I want to give a HUGE thanks to Brian, TAG, and all the people who showed up and played, helped, watched, and supported our Sport of Air Hockey. As Syed said at the banquet a lot of us wouldn't be able to play this level of Air Hockey with others without your efforts. It was a great run tournament as always and hope it becomes a regular event again.

Congrats to Danny on his first Houston City title.

Laz
