Predictions?
August Para attempts to defend his World Ranking number 17 and Texas number 7, tonight at SRO in Houston, TX. Against Evan Siegworth. Both players are veterans and Pro players who are looking to break-through into the Top 16 in the World.
Para features a controlled fast attack with crisp clean straights to either side, with accurate rw overs, and occasional forehands. Siegeworth plays a more deliberate game featuring various angles of striking the puck; excellent cross straight cuts, and under and over banks.
Para is known for his tenacity, quickness, focus and offensive power; Siegworth is hard to read and has a strong defense and comes with a battle-plan.
In 2010 weekly showings, Siegworth has finished in the top four two times, winning them both. Para has appeared 4 times, with no weekly wins and two seconds.
In this analyst’s view, the match will depend on whether August will be able to read and crack Evan’s strong defense as the match progresses; or will Evan’s defense increase its grip on August fast paced style as they move into the fourth and fifth sets.
I see the match a see-saw battle, with Evan taking the first two sets; August the next two; then Evan’s defense shutting down August’s offense in the fifth set to take a 3 to 2 lead; but then Evan tiring as August rallies back strong in the sixth set to tie at 3 to 3. Then the final set goes down to the seventh game, with __________________winningïŠ

Evan is modest; it was an extremely close contest that could have gone either way because:
The set count was 3 to 0, but EACH set went down to the final game at 6 to 6. August won all three seventh games, and thus took each set 4 to 3.
I have never seen or heard of such a close match. Evan played great, but August is so in practice that he snatched those close games.
Both players were sharp and accurate. Evan had a bit of an arm problem, so the match was a three of five.
Congrats to August for defending his World and Texas Ranking!
