Players:
On Saturday, Nov. 8 and Sunday, Nov 9, we will hold a Houston City Open to benefit Grayson's Army for the Down Syndrome Association of Houston (DSAH).
On Saturday, Nov 8 from 8 am to 1 pm, DSAH will host a fun walk. There are teams for the event that raise money for the charity. Andrew and Niki Flanagan have signed up Grayson's Army as a team and set a goal of $5000. To help them, Xtreme Airhockey is hosting a Houston City Open event at Skybox and will donate a major portion of the proceeds to help Grayson's Army achieve that goal.
On Friday, Nov 7, we will have our regular weekly tournament. All entry fees will go to the Grayson's Army DSAH fund.
Saturday morning from 8 am to 1 pm is the DSAH fun walk. If you would like to participate and/or make a donation directly to Grayson's army outside of the tournament, go to http://www.houstonbuddywalk.org/fr/DSAH/2014BuddyWalk/GraysonsArmy.
The tournament will start at 4 pm (the walk ends at 1) and run until 10 pm on Saturday, Nov 8. We will resume on Sunday morning. Nov 9 at 11 am and run until completed at approximately 7-8 pm.
We will have 6 sanctioned Dynamo Airhockey tables and thus will cap participation at 48 players. We will do spinoffs, though most of them will be shorter matches (2 of 3 or 3 of 5). There will be trophies for the top finishers. The cost will be $40 per person and will include the cost of all games. No quarters will be needed. No prize money will be awarded, as, again, proceeds will go to benefit DSAH.
The event will be seeded using Mitic ratings and will follow USAA rules and procedures. Registration will occur via the Xtreme Airhockey web site xtremeairhockey.com. Pete Lippincott has generously offered his time to set up the page and link to the PayPal account. I will let you know when that is ready. Please note that your spot in the event is not official until you have paid. So if you plan to compete, sign us as soon as we release it and reserve your spot. When we have our 48 registered participants, registration will close. So if you want a shot at playing in a major in Houston this year, this is it, AND it is for a really good cause.
Several Dallas players have already committed including Chuck Forrest, Mike Keller, and Nick Keller.
I realize this is short notice, but this idea began when I was in Dallas on Tuesday, and we figured "what the heck".
As soon as registration is officially ready, I'll let you know. If anybody wants to pay me in person, that is an option as well.

Sorry for short notice. It just happened, and I jumped on it. Possible Texas State in January / February in the works. That one will have ample notice.

Registration is now open. To register, go to http://www.xtremeairhockey.com and click on the Grayson's Army picture on the Home page. That will launch a Google Form. Please fill out the form and Submit. You will be given a link that, when clicked, will take you to a screen to allow you to entry your name in a Text box and pay via PayPal. Type in your name (Or whomever you are paying for) and click the Pay Now button and follow the PayPal process. You can register and pay for yourself and anybody else, but each registration must be submitted separately.
If you prefer to Pay in person, that is fine as well. On the Google Form, there is a field "Pay in Person" that you can check to indicate you will not pay via PayPal. For those who are local, you can give me $40 cash or a check made out to Xtreme Airhockey at the weekly tournament. For those out of town, please mail a check for $40 to extreme Airhockey.
We are limited to 48 people, and we want everybody who really wants to participate to be able to play. But in Houston alone we have more than 48 players, so it will have to be first come, first serve. When you have paid, your spot is reserved.
If anybody has any troubles with the registration process, please contact me by text at 281-795-6376.
Thanks,
Brian Accrocco

Unfortunately, I will not be able to make it. I have prior commitments for that weekend.
For the people who will not be able to make it, I suggest making a donation. It is a great cause.
Have fun!!!

Sorry to hear it Syed. But thanks for the support. And if there are some of you who can't play and want to donate, we have a handful of players who want to play but are in need of financial assistance. I'm sure one of them would be happy to play if you want to sponsor their registration with your donation.

Billy Stubbs has registered. Danny Hynes and Colin Cummings have expressed that they will register as well. With Pete that 4 of the top 10 and 5 of the top 11 (counting me). Not bad.

I just want to say thanks to Brian for putting this tournament together and for supporting such a great cause. The proceeds are going to the Down Syndrome Association of Houston... a wonderful organization. As a reminder, the annual DSAH Buddy Walk is Saturday morning. This is a fun - not competitive - event held at Minute Maid Park in Downtown Houston for the purpose of raising awareness and money for DSAH.
The event starts around 9am with food, fun and festivities. There are games and amusements for the little ones and a stage for the DS community to entertain the crowd. The one-mile walk (hop, skip, stroll, mosey, crawl or drag) starts at 11:30am. It really is a sight to behold. Over 10,000 people will be in attendance to celebrate our children with Down syndrome and raise awareness for the organization.
Everyone is welcome to join Niki and I walk with Grayson Saturday morning. We will be rocking our blue Grayson's Army tees as a group and we will stick together to symbolize our support for Grayson and all the other beautiful kids in the local DS community.
After the walk, we will all meet back at Skybox for the Air Hockey competition to begin! I'm looking forward to it. I haven't picked up a mallet since Grayson's baby shower!
Again... anyone and everyone is welcome to play in the Air Hockey tournament. If you would like more info about it, message me or Brian Accrocco (airhockeygod@att.net). Thanks!

It's time to officially start Colin Watch. Will this be his tournament? I know that Danny and I, along with many others, won't make it easy on him. I don't see him winning this tournament, but I will probably say that until he wins one :)
Looking forward to a fun weekend of air hockey and marching for Grayson's Army.

Will try to fix the bracket this morning to the correct matches. The online generator was incorrect for the crossovers so was unable to continue using.

Main draw through 24th brackets are entered. I took the photos early/am missing some of the scores (games will be all 7-0s if that is the case). Will eventually remedy if possible. I will double check entry before rolling any calculations later in the week.

My tournament recap: (Yeah, I know. It's little late for a recap, but....)
Thanks to Brian, his team, and everyone that helped put this event together. The money went to a great cause: Grayson!
For the tournament itself, I was sick. But Colin would have pushed me even at full health. Colin is playing at a top-5 level. I would put him at very close to even with Danny, Davis, Pedro, and myself. I would favor Colin over anyone else. That's how masterfully he's playing. His cut is powerful/accurate. His RWU is deceptive and consistent. His LWU is less deceptive than his RWU, but his top-tier power, accuracy, and quick release make the shot tough to deal with. He's as good as anyone at snagging, and his defense has improved. He's patched up some earlier holes, most noticeably the cross from right-of-center has been shut down. All in all, I'm really impressed with his game.
I've recently injured my ring finger on my right hand, so I'm 2-4 months from coming back to play. As of this moment the Texas State is around 30% for me to attend. Also, looking forward to playing Keith Fletcher a challenge match when I'm healed.
