I predict a really close match as well. We have been back and forth at the weeklies so I'm excited to see what transpires in this case. :)

7 sets in 2 hours!!!! Sounds to me like lots of offense and very little defense in this scenario.
I see Brian winning in 6.

Going strictly by the laws of reason, I see the sets as follows:
4 to 2 Pete 4 to 2 Brian 4 to 2 Pete 4 to 2 Brian 4 to 1 Brian 4 to 3 Brian
20 games for Brian, 16 games for Pete.

I'm going to predict 4-1 Brian. Pete will need to get out to a quick lead if he is to have a chance. If Brian starts rolling, he can be tough to stop.
Best of luck.

This one really depends on which Pete and which Brian come to the table. They are both capable of having an "on" day resulting in a blowout either way. I've seen Pete with his game face on tear through Brian game after game. However, without the "game face" I think it's Brian's match to lose.
For the sake of making a prediction, I think the most likely scenario is that Brian's control, accuracy and deception will prevail over Pete's wild, transition game.
4-2 Brian, 21 games to 12.

Pete, Brian and I practiced together this week.
I tried to emulate you by striking wild shots from all over the table.
Brian tried to emulate Syed by playing bad defense and charging all the time! ooh did I want to say that!!!!

Twas the night before the Match and all through Donovan's house, not a player was playing, not even a mouse.
But the Table does speak and foretells here a new thing, earlier predictions we must delete, the Match will be won instead by Pete!
Though logic would have Brian the winner, on this day the victory would go to Peter the Contender.
The Match would be long, and with a shoulder to heal, an out of practice Brian would be forced to kneel.
With Peter's transitions quick and shots so strong, on this one day, he can do no wrong.
When the last puck is scored and off goes the meter, the scoreboard will read 4 to 2 in favor of Peter.

Nice win Brian! What adjustments did you make after the first set?
Do you feel like you are back to the same level of play that you were at before your injury?

Brian had control of the first set and Pete ran off 3 games in a row to win it. Brian was moving way too much for Pete's LWO and CUT and following the 1st set he controlled that movement. On offense, the 1st set Brian tried to (I think) be too finesse. From what I saw in the following sets, Brian was more powerful with his shots and used the Cross repeatedly.
Congratulations to Brian for a nice win. It seems you are back from the injury.

Pete: Thanks. You played great. Even after I was able to win back to back 4-0 sets, you made some adjustments and made both of the last 2 sets very competetive. Lots of 7/6 games. If 1 or 2 of those swing the other way, we may have been playing a 6th and a 7th set. Thanks for playing me.
Syed: Spot on analysis as usual.
Billy:
1) Adjustments. In the first set, I was rolling and made a mistake in game 5. I was up 5-3 and sped up instead of slowing down to close out the set. Pete stepped up his game and jumped on me and stole the game. He came out in games 6 and 7 with a very crisp accurate left wall over and a no drift cut, both of which penetrated me. It was brilliant strategy and execution on his part.
After the set I knew I had to do three things. a) Take away the cut b) Attach the left wall over, c) Remain calm and not let myself get pulled into his speed game. I stuck with my "Ehab" impersonation executing hard left wall unders, crosses and right wall unders with cuts and RWO tossed in. It worked for 2 straight sets. The key was my pace. I maintained a slow to moderate pace which improved the accuracy of my shots and better disguised the releases.
The last 2 sets I stuck with it, but Pete speeded back up and was able to out shoot me for a few games. But, as Syed pointed out, my cross became the main weapon and continued to work consistently through the end.
2) Level - Hard to say if I am in the same place. My strength is definitely not. I have lost muscle mass in my pecs because of being unable to bench press. But I feel like the off perios has raised my level of intelligence. I feel like I am playing the smartest I have ever played. But we'll let the results of matches and tournament for 2013 determine what level I am playing.
Thanks to Donovan for hosting and to all who came.
We had a surprise 40th Birthday party for Donovan after the match organizewd by his mother. We had planned it for 2 weeks, and we totally got him. :)
