Sorry I couldn't make it to Houston again this year, but I will say that the streaming, despite its technical challenges, looked great and even seemed to draw some outside interest. The "Viewers" count on the streaming window peaked around 300 viewers, but was steadily in the 150-170 range for most of the the time I watched. I'm not sure how many people watched for any length of time, but it's great that it garnered some interest.

From what I could tell, this was an extremely top-heavy field, which is evident when a previous Master like Nick Geoffroy gets bounced early and ends up in the 25-32 spin-off. It also seems like there were a lot of close matches where the winner of the Set was outscored overall.

I watched most of the tournament off and on but left the sound off on Sunday with the audio problems. I also missed the Finals, but it looks (on paper) like Billy was playing at an elevated level. Anyway, I don't think anyone in the world could have predicted the Top 10 in order, let alone the Top 5.

In just glancing that Main Draw brackets, there are probably two dozen really good matches by the linescore:

WB3 - Paulo Correia def. Jose Mora 4-2 (Jose outscored Paulo by 3 points)

http://airhockeyworld.com/match.asp?matchid=31722

WB4 - Javier Pulido def. Anthony Marino 4-2 (Again, Marino was +2 in scoring)

http://airhockeyworld.com/match.asp?matchid=31759

WB4 - August Parra def. Syed Rahman 4-3 (Syed +3; this pair always seems to go to 7 games)

http://airhockeyworld.com/match.asp?matchid=31752

WB5 - Paulo Correia def. Travis Luscombe 4-3 (Set point either way)

http://airhockeyworld.com/match.asp?matchid=31764

WB6 - Tim Weissman def. Billy Stubbs 4-2 (Billy +1; I could tell from watching his post-game body language on camera that Billy would come back Sunday completely focused. Also, Tim came up HUGE in the clutch. This might have been my favorite that I saw all weekend.)

http://airhockeyworld.com/match.asp?matchid=31770

WB7 - Ehab Shoukry def. Danny Hynes 4-3

http://airhockeyworld.com/match.asp?matchid=31775

WB8 - Ehab Shoukry def. Tim Weissman 4-3

http://airhockeyworld.com/match.asp?matchid=31776

It seems like Ehab had been very quietly taking care of business up until facing Danny and then put together two great sets.

(LB matches cont'd)

LB3 - Dave Parmley def. Chris Gibson 4-3

http://airhockeyworld.com/match.asp?matchid=31825

LB4 - Chris Lee def. Tad Gibson 4-3 (Tad +5; came down to final point)

http://airhockeyworld.com/match.asp?matchid=31830

LB4 - Laz Garcia def. Mike Pitts 4-3 (0 scoring differential; Laz wins back-to-back 7-6 games while down 3-2)

http://airhockeyworld.com/match.asp?matchid=31832

LB4 - Phil Arnold def. Donovan Brown 4-3 (Donovan +2; I watched this and it was epic and came down to 6-6 Game 7)

http://airhockeyworld.com/match.asp?matchid=31832

LB4 - Dionisio Diaz def. Andrew Flanagan 4-3 (0 diff.; Diaz wins first three games, Andrew wins next three; Game 7 goes to set point)

http://airhockeyworld.com/match.asp?matchid=31837

LB6 - Anthony Marino def. August Parra 4-3 (0 differential)

http://airhockeyworld.com/match.asp?matchid=31856

LB8 - Keith Fletcher def. Jose Mora 4-3 (Jose +1; Fletcher wins set point)

http://airhockeyworld.com/match.asp?matchid=31861

LB8 - Anthony Marino def. Evan Siegworth 4-3 (Evan +4)

http://airhockeyworld.com/match.asp?matchid=31863

LB8 - Brian Quezada def. Albert Ortiz 4-3 (0 Differential)

http://airhockeyworld.com/match.asp?matchid=31863

LB9 - Wil Upchurch def. Anthony Marino 4-3 (Wil +3; I didn't see this one, but it strikes me as being one of the most potentially intense matches.)

http://airhockeyworld.com/match.asp?matchid=31866

LB10 - Wil Upchurch def. Javier Pulido 4-3

http://airhockeyworld.com/match.asp?matchid=31869

That's awesome stuff and I'll be glad to watch all this video when I get a chance. If I get some time, I'll try to go through the Spin-Off brackets as they're posted and add some other stuff.

I'm sure there are dozens of other amazing matches in the tourney that I'm overlooking, but I'm glad UNAP put together a great tournament and Webcast it so nerds like me can watch it and look over the box scores shortly after its conclusion.

I'm Eric Rood and, luckily, you're not.

Holy cow.. I know a couple people mentioned that there were some really tight sets being played, but I didn't even consider the ones where the winner scored fewer overall points.

Can't wait to see some of Q and I's video of these great matches.

Some more from the Spinoffs:

9-12 Spinoffs:

Fletcher def. Marino 4-3 (Every single game was 7-6! I don't think I've ever seen that.)

http://airhockeyworld.com/match.asp?matchid=32015

Quezada def. Marino 4-3 (All 7-6 and 7-5 games)

http://airhockeyworld.com/match.asp?matchid=32016

17-24 Spinoffs:

Mitic def. Robbins 4-3 (+0; Robbins always gives Goran a tough time; Goran beat Mark a second time to win the 21/22 match)

http://airhockeyworld.com/match.asp?matchid=31889

Meyer def. Luscombe 4-3 (Wait for it...)

http://airhockeyworld.com/match.asp?matchid=31891

Luscombe def. Parra 4-3

http://airhockeyworld.com/match.asp?matchid=31899

Luscombe def. Meyer 4-3 (Great split; Travis went on to win eight straight games against Lippincott to win the spinoff outright!)

http://airhockeyworld.com/match.asp?matchid=31901

J. Weissman def. Garcia 4-3

http://airhockeyworld.com/match.asp?matchid=31921

Thanks for posting the results, Travis! More to come, whether anyone gives a crap or not.

The scores for Anthony and Keith may be updated later on. Travis knew the game count but not the exact scores of that particular match. I do know from being in that spinoff that the last two games were 7-6 so it did go down to set point either way. Unfortunately it was not on Table 1 or 2 so no video that I know of.

Well, I'm glad that someone's enjoying them. Thank Goran for the main draw entry and the 5/6 7/8. :)

Yeah, Keith v Anthony was just recorded as 7-6 until I get a copy of the chart... it ran a bit later than the rest.
