I have challenged Pete Lippincott to a challenge match for Rating Position to gain Advancement Opportunity for Seeding.

Pete has graciously accepted this challenge and is prepared to defend at Donovan Arena this Thursday evening at 6:30 PM.

Some say it will be a mirror image battle between the Chameleon and the Electric Eel.

No doubt it will be creative and shocking air hockey!

Second Priming,

Carolina Phil

An Orangutan (Phil) vs. a Moose (Pete)

If the Moose does a good bull charge straight into the Phil Primate, he will beat the monkey pretty hard. However, if the Orangutan can dodge the Moose's charge, jump aside, and then spring up upon his back, he'll be able to ride the Moose while he continually pounds his head with his fists. This will leave the Moose nearly defenseless, and will result him getting his brains beaten in.

Very exciting battle of the animals. Can't wait to see it.......neither can Michael Vick. ;)

If Phil can remain disciplined and avoid falling in to Pete's traps he can win some rating points. Phil will need to hold his attack to 3 shots, and avoid the urge to wanderlust in to Pete's intoxicating fields of flurry.

Can Phil stay focused for a full challenge match? Will his age-old temptress be too much to resist?

Will the duckman emerge?

If past behavior is the best predictor of future behavior, then Pete wins 4-1.

Sorry Phil. You must corral the bard within you to prove me wrong.

But, Tim, it's fun to play footloose and fancy free. Pete and I are Siamese Twins. Yet, you are correct. I recall the few times I have done what you suggest. I remember those matches as Grim. Grim air hockey has a secret pleasure all its own, in a Grim sort of way.

It is hard to return to Grim AH. I may be getting close because last week in the dentist chair as he drilled me, cut me and pounded, I focused on visualizing the circle drift and hitting all my shots out of it. Over and over. Drill, Pound. Circle drift, Shoot. Drill, pound. Circle, shoot. When he removed his hand from my mouth, I am sure I saw it grimly shaking and blistered and bleeding.

Our match is postponed until this Saturday at 4 PM and will take place at Brian A's home, not Donovans.

It will likely be livestreamed.

Is it bad form to quote oneself in order to toot your own horn?

Phil fought ferociously. He is mos def a power house to deal with. Most of the matches were quite close. Set 4 Phil came back 3-1 to win the set. He still has a lot of fight and many of us will have issues meeting him this year in the nationals.
Thanks for the fight Phil!

Thank you, Pete. That is true. And you earned your victory today. You were the superior player.

Pete has improved his game greatly since last July. He has a fine array of shots. He is very quick on transitions. And when needed, Pete can up his intensity level to take the key game.

Thanks, too, to Brian and Dianne for making the house available for this nearly 4 hr match. And for the live stream.

I really enjoyed gearing up for this battle the past couple of days. And once the fight was on, it felt great to be in hand to hand combat once again! Air Hockey provides us this chance to compete with all our might.
