Poll: There have been some very interesting upsets recently. It's officially a thing. Lazaro vs. Ehab I would have loved to have seen this. Lazaro winning back-to-back 7-6 games to finish it out. Oddly lopsided total points... Ehab scored 6 more points than Laz and still lost the set. Meyer v. Stubbs I feel like I got really, really lucky. My defense just held enough of Billy's attack back... like I was just able to hang in there enough. And he outscored me as well. Weissman v Weissman Looking at the scores of Jacob vs. Lazaro... and I had to think that Jacob is about to have a breakout. Is this evidence of it? A 4-1 win is pretty impressive. I'd be interested to see what Jacob is doing different. So. What was the biggest upset?

From my perspective the biggest upset of the 3 is Lazaro over Ehab. Themaster I have been able to beat or get closest to beating is Brian A. I know his game because I practice with him most. The same has to be said for Dan and Jacob and their practice partners. All 3 victories are impressive, but Laz does not practice with Ehab as much.

I think another question is: Can any of these upsets happen in the main draw on Saturday in two weeks?

Laz over Ehab: I can not see this happen at all on Saturday. Even though Ehab has been upset before in the main draw (Dustin, Dave P.), Ehab is still trying to get back in air-hockey shape. We are using these Mitic sets as practice and in the tournament itself, intensity levels will be higher and Ehab's killer instinct will be in full effect.

Jacob over Tim: Jacob gets better every time I see him play. But again in the main tournament, Tim will not hesitate to go for the killshot every time.

Dan over Billy: I do not know how much Billy's knee is bothering him and I have not seen Dan play in over a year. Seems like Dan has improved suddenly and am looking forward to seeing or playing him. Billy is one of the favorites to make the finals, and I cannot see him losing to Dan (who Billy is very familiar with) in his route to the finals.

But I do think there will be some upsets this tournament that people are not expecting (as always). Which ones will be a later discussion when the ratings are frozen. :)
