Airhockey players of the world. UNAP and its affiliates have been saving a special surprise.
As it turns out, we have played 198 official weekly tournaments at SRO in our time there since 2008. Next week will be tournament number 199. And we are skipping July 20 to play doubles at Donovan's Palace. (See the 2012 Houston Weeklies thread for details.
Therefore, the GG 500 will be officially the 200th "Weekly" tournament held at SRO! As a result, 2nd place will be guaranteed $200!
Seriously - this is a major accomplishment, and we are very proud that the timing of this worked out so well. SRO has been a wonderful and gracious host for 4 years, and we get to celebrate this historic landmark as a part of the World Championship extravaganza!
And yes. The GG500 will count as a weekly, and thus the winner will be qualified for the 2012 SRO Tournament of Champions to be played in January of 2013, and participation will count towards your Houston metrics!
