I thought it'd be fun to take a look at the tentative match-ups for the round of 16. I'm assuming that all of the higher seeds advance and that Nizzi plays - both long shots :)

1 Billy Stubbs vs 16 Dan Meyer - Me vs one of my main practice partners. I was hoping to avoid this, but this is how the draw shakes out.

2 Danny Hynes vs 15 Michael Thomas

3 Ehab Shoukry vs 14 Phil Arnold

4 Davis Lee vs 13 Mark Robbins - Mark has given Davis troubles in the past. By troubles, I mean a game or two.

5 Mark Nizzi vs 12 Joe Cain

6 Keith Fletcher vs 11 August Parra - One of the more intriguing match-ups of this round. Keith, a two time finalist and perennial Master, returns after missing his first Worlds in over a decade. He's up against August, who at the moment is Houston's most in-practice player.

7 Brian Quezada vs 10 George Anderson

8 Nick Geoffroy vs Travis Luscombe - The marquee match up of the round with highest collective caliber of players (as it should be with the 8 and 9 seeds playing).

Just 2 more days 'til Vegas! Any predictions for these "matches"?

Billy vs Dan - too close to call, but I will go with Billy 7-6 in the 7th game!!! ..... :)

Danny vs Mike - who can shoot more RWOs? Danny wins this one.

Ehab vs. Phil - sorry Phil.

Davis vs. Mark R. - Davis knows how to shoot a cut and a cross right? So i will take Davis.

Nizzi vs. Joe - both players out of practice. Nizzi has a better offense but a worse defense, but Joe does not have the correct shots to beat Nizzi. So Nizzi.

Q vs George - uhhhhhhh.....Q. Not even close.

Nick vs. Travis - actually very even match (in my opinion). Have to go with Nick since Travis is getting over a finger injury and not in great practice.

August vs. Keith - another very even match. Keith's cuts and overs versus August's cuts and overs ..... hmmmm.....August has to finish off Keith in 4 or 5 games. The longer the match goes, it favors Keith. August in 5.

Not to nitpick, but I thought I had the right shots to beat him the last time I beat him.

Don't worry, Syed - I, myself, will figure something out.
