On June 15, assuming we have no interruption between now and then (Knock on wood), Houston will host our 100th weekly in a row! The last time we did not have a weekly in Houston was the week of the 2010 Zwack World Championships.
To celebrate this benchmark, UNAP will contribute $100 to the pot to go to the final 4 winners. We welcome all players, especially our Austin and Dallas bretherin to drive on down and join us for an epic battle!

Excellent! That is an all time Air Hockey record.
The first weekly started at Carnaby's on Jackson St. off Montrose in Houston in 1973 with Paul Quarles and Rolf Moore in the Finals. The weeklies continued off and on throughout the years with most of them taking place at Damians, a laid back club, on Peden St. near Grey and Shepherd, the place all the original founders gathered over the years.
Damians continued to be the hot site for AH for years, but weeklies also began to be held every Sunday afternoon at Goofy's Gameroon on Bufalo near 59 where the owner threw in $200 every Sunday for months for the tourney at the largest 24 hr.gameroom Houston ever had and a den of iniquity. At night smoke was so thick that the three ah and 12 foos tables in the back could not be seen until you made your way past the all night crowd of bikers, hookers, and dopers to finally see the blue Brunswicks with their Seven Lights for scoring lighting up in the vapors. After these places faded, the ah scene moved to Kay's Lounge on Bissonet and then to Barney's in SW Houston and Quiptars in Memorial City, and Vince's several sites; then where? To Fun Time? in West Houston? Perhaps over to Time Out on Shepherd at I-10, and then to Shooters on Richmond, and then to Kicks and now at SRO since 2008, I believe.

Not sure is a world record; between 1994 (from my start in the sport) and 1998 i played every fridary weekly tournaments; also, we had weeklies on thursdays for more than 1 year (96-97) when there were 2 diferent air hockey asociations in caracas. I cant calculate how many weeklies in a row we had on those years.
