as a great friend that mike is to me ... i wanted to give him much time to prepare, as he has been playing better than ever in his life as of recent. i have obviously not been in practice in many, many years. i would require to play this match in the south. no need to remind me of our procedures on this matter anyone.
if not, i am willing to wait for as long as it takes until he is in agreement. if he fears defeat on his march to atlanta, and does not agree to that, i will file no grievance and hold no grudge.
i am back on the horizon, yet still far away. the storm is coming and gathering strength. i am the lightning. i am the darkened sky.
for the almighty table ...

Hi James,
I accept your challenge for 2013.
I propose the Honorable John P. Mitchell as referee;
and on his table if possible.
I may miss Atlanta in January 2013, but will most likely be in Atlanta around July 11 - 18, 2012 this year; and likely the 2nd week in July in 2013.
Let's be in touch and work out the particulars. Of course, I'd prefer NYC ;-)

mike i want this to be clear. i am not challenging you. i am challenging myself to reach what i once was. you are playing better than ever, and i am playing worse than i was in 2003. you have a year and three months to prepare for this match. know that i will again defeat you, unless i defeat myself long before the match. this is nothing personal as far as you.
for your contributions to air hockey (though i wish you would reveal them to everyone ... ahem...) you have truly earned my permanent respect as both a great friend and as a nemesis on the almighty table.
