Just so I can get this straight with everyone. Here is the list as far as I have come to understand. If you want to throw your name into the hat I would love to play you so let me know.
By priority
Seyed, Q, Goran, Andrew, Niki
Non priority
August, Seyed, Q, Goran, Andrew, Niki
If I forgot anyone please let me know I apologize in advance.

w my schedule
Seyed most likely in two weeks. My band schedule is open wide in February, but I don't want to keep you waiting either. So not during the Chicago invasion, but my birthday weekend could be just fine. January 15th during the day, I have a gig the night before so let's say 2pm. As for place I'm happy with SRO, but if you would rather play at Donovan's or Brian's (assuming they are cool with it) I'm down.
As for the rest of you chi-town peeps I'm really going to stress mitic rated sets with me, it seems to be the right way to make our sport "fair" for tournament spread futures and someone like me can't snipe a spot just because the other player is having an off day, but that is just how Seyed would say "is just my opinion" and is not the way we roll at the moment.
Andrew and Niki because you are in town and don't have to make a monster trip to play, let's talk about when you have time. I would love to play you both in a challenge set sometime down the road in February preferably
:)

As for my challenges in this priority madness, Ehab (#3) my friend, consider yourself challenged!
I have my Feb calendar open for priority play except Feb 4th and the 23rd as I have prior engagements. Let me know ;)
And once that date is settled on Danny Hynes you are Challenged as well (good luck this weekend against Billy!)

What dynamism unleashed in AH Matches!

Mark and Q have expressed my understanding of how the Rule is to be understood-- with Mark's edit about the loser having to wait to the SECOND month to challenge for priority.

The Priority rule first introduced by Paul Marshall about 1990 has evolved with revisions through such discussions that we are now having. It is good to revisit and get everyone up to speed as this flurry of competition increases moving into 2012.

Looking forward to some challenge sets Pete! I wish you had voting power to get ratings passed. There are at least 4 players who haven't touched a mallet in over a year that get to decide the future of air hockey, while players like Billy, Q, and Pete have no vote. I hope those on the fence vote like the active players want.

Hey Pete:

This is Syed. Thanks to agreeing to play me so quick. Jan 15 is fine with me. But SRO will be very busy with NFL playoffs that Sunday. So I will ask Donovan if we can play there.

Take care...

Syed

ps it is S Y E D not Seyed. :) thx

Great job Pete on your match.

Sorry to hijack the thread BUT, this is dangerous reasoning Goran. Whether someone actively hits a puck is not relevant to whether they have wisdom to share and quality feedback to give related to the future of the sport. If your logic held true, then many sports would come to a crashing halt. Just think if the players in Pro basketball always got their way...should David Stern not have an important voice in the future of the game just because he isn't on the court?

I happen to like the idea of a sanctioned ratings to be used alongside rankings, but I don't think it matters whether the voters are actively competing or not. If someone has relevant knowledge and experience and they are active in the discussion and voting, then they should have their voice.

Take care...

Tim

Good point Tim. Its upsetting to me that you don't have a vote on this important issue either. I hope once it gets voted in, you can be part of improving it.

Hey S Y E D,
Sounds great let me know what Donovan says and I'll pencil it in.
Tim thanks! And I agree with you, a well rounded opinion in any realm is better than a one sided coin. Maybe we can get some of the venue managers and owners ideas as well since they really hold the keys to our kingdom these days. In music we have the same issues, the players seem to want all the rules in their favor but realistically it's about the gestalt of our ecosystem in music. Speaking of bigger ideas, maybe the next nationals we can get some better seating for the finals tables, one sided is not enough for the crowds that we should be attracting.
Anyhow rant and thread hijacking complete.
:)

Pete

I talked to Donovan and he will be in town that day and is perfectly ok for us to play there.

So I will see you on Jan 15 at 2pm at Donovan's.

Thanks
Syed

Pete, we had talked about creating an arena style finals setup last year at the International. We definitely will address as we plan for 2012 tournament.

Nice, maybe some more camera angles too! I've got a neat-o surprise for future matches, but I have to see if it works with Donovan's system first.
