Since I started running weekly tournament in Houston back in 1996, we have never had a year when we had a weekly airhockey tournament every single week. The best we have ever achieved was 50. This years, we have completed 47 tournaments with 7 weeks left and have every reason to think we can get to the glorious 52!
So I call out to all Houston players to step up the game. Over the next several weeks, let's get our numbers up again. Soccer season is nearly over for my family, and the Accrocco's will be back for the final 7 starting this Friday.
In addition, if we make it, I will personally contribute $100 for the final 52nd tournament on Dec 30. If anybody else wants to chip into the "52 Fund", you are welcome to do so. Just let me know.
Let's finish 2011 on a perfect note. Join me in achieving this goal for airhockey - a year with no missed weekly tournaments at SRO!

Tonight is SRO weekly tournament #47 of 52. Dust off those mallets and come out to SRO. I will be going up early today to do some work on levelling the tables and doing some pore drilling and goal repair. The tables are way overdue for some maintenance. Anybody who wants to lend a hand is invited.
Thanks,
Brian

Nice turnout tonight in Houston for the Friday weekly, 20 plus players.
I was able to enter and play for the first time since the Sept sciatic nerve back injury. Sure felt good to return to the Table, hitting the puck abit.
Great, too, to see everyone and their improvements.

The number of players attending weeklies over the course of the year has increased every year the past 3 years.
2011 = 154 different players (so far)competed in at least 1 weekly. 2010 = 146 different players 2009 = 134 different players
Only 1 month to go to expose new players to this sport for 2011. Bring out the new players.

Tonight is the night. The Cummings family is bringing 8 players to SRO along with a few spectators. All of the players are repeat performers. Shelly's cousins are in town and the kids are ready to play. They practiced for a couple hours last night after they got here.

Wish I could be there to compete; but got some duties to perform tonight through Sunday. I look forward to full recovery and improving in 2012 with hard practice, Chicago style!!
Enjoy!

Congrats to Anthony Munoz for an awesome win in a huge tournament packed full of masters and pros. Anthony not only won the tourney, he took down one of the two $25 bounties on World Champion Danny Hynes' head. The kids are taking over!

Thanks to everybody who came out and suppoerted the event and to all of you who came out most of the year. We have a great loyal group of players in Houston, and your dedication to the Houston weekly has made it the #1 airhockey weekly on earth!
Special thanks to SRO managers Joe and Greg who helped us to overcome a catastrophic issue with table failure in tournament 51 and get the tables back in order so we could finish 52. It's like the devil tried to stop us, but you can't stop a team when God has their back!
We hit our 52. Goal achieved. Let's see what 2012 has in store...
