Dear friends, after one and a half or so years of hibernation, Air Hockey Catalunya or what is left of it, is back to activity.

Unfortunately, many of our former best players have quit, but we will do our best to keep air hockey alive in our country. And this time I am lucky to have Arnau Martín, our current champion and a young and passionate player who is willing to help me in this new adventure.

Last week we had the 1st in a series of 4 consecutive weeklies that we have organized as a way to try to reconnect with our players (old and new). In the 1st even we were just 5 players, but now i don't care too much about the numbers, i just want to keep the puck being hit! :)

So from now on, you can count us back in the list of active player bases :)

Mauro,

Excellent news! Do not be discouraged. AH grows in cycles. I have seen many cycles. There are times when ah is there, but not vibrant and active. Then it rises like the Phoenix and the growth booms. Now that you took one step back, take three steps forward. Think of new ways to capture NEW players.

You can do it!

Thank you for your encouragement! :)

It was a very small and simple competition, as we are still far from anywthing we could have done in the 2003-2009 period.

We've had 7 players competing, 2 of them completely new to air hockey.

Arnau Martín (Catalan champion '09 and '10, current #1 ranked and now 18 y.o.) was the winner in the overall category, and Andrea Martín (his sister) in the amateur division.

And now we've made the first step, the next is the Catalan Championship (which will be far from the quality and attendance of those 2003-08, but likely better than 2009-10. And then planning something decent for 2012.

But, despite the difficult times we're experiencing, one thing is sure, there's still love for air hockey and desire of competition in some of us.
