After I consulted with Tim Weissman and Brian Accrocco regarding Brian's recent challenge of Tim for his World Ranking, Tim has recognized that he is not in a position to play challenge matches and shall be dropped from the World Rankings. All parties recognize this decision follows protocol appropriate to Challenge Match Rule 2.6 and is effective immediately.
I appreciate the professionalism and integrity of both players in handling the enforcement of this important procedure.
Mr. Secretary, please remove Tim Weissman from the World Rankings.

I'm impressed at how smoothly that went over. No guilt trips and/or accusations. Good job everybody.

It's actually rather automatic and doesn't involve anyone's feelings. Brian challenged Tim prior to Aug. 15, so was Tim's priority match for September. Tim didn't ask for the allowed 2-month extension, so the match had to be played by the end of September. Tim announced that he wouldn't be playing, so on Oct. 1, he was eligible to be dropped from the Rankings, according to the rule.
