The competition at the Houston weeklies is really getting fierce! So many of our up-and-comers are developing their games and working hard on the fundamentals.

Congrats to Mark Waheed for his 2nd weekly win tonight! After last week's win as a level 0, Mark was moved up to a level 1. That didn't stop him from tearing apart some top level players like August Parra and Phil Arnold to win another one. It really looks like the consistant practice sessions are paying off for everyone!

Yes, congratulations to Mark again.

He has devoted himself to the sport and continuously shows up on Thursdays to practice with the PROS.

He has been promoted to a level 2 and he said he is even going to try harder to win now.

Until next week............

Congratulations Mark on moving to level 2. That is fast, but you definitely have been playing well. Another hard playing lefty!

Congrats to Bang Tran for his victory last Friday at SRO. Bang Tran I believe was pro level back at Green's Gameroom, Memorial City Mall in the 80's. His younger brother also played a bit. Seems like a Green's Gameroom reunion is happening with a number of the players from there coming out of the wood work.

GREAT news!

It seems our local news coverage is helping.

What level did he play at and won?

He was playing as a level 1. I beat him early in the tournament. Bang turned up the intensity and took me down in 2 sets in the finals. I think he's probably a 2 now and will quickly move to a 3 if he continues to play as well as he did.

Congratulations to Johnny for getting his first win tonight. He has been playing for about a year now and has been getting better. He is now a level 2.

Congratulations on your win.

Thanks Syed! I thought it was going to take me more than a year to win a weekly but I've only been playing since late January/early February I think and I accomplished my first goal!

Ah, yes. The one to me earlier about an AH event at University of Houston game area. How could I forget, that is the very site of First Contact. The inefable (AH) Table appeared on that site to me for the first time. Pristine in her shimmering radiance. And nothing was ever the same..........

And congrats on winning the weekly tonight!

Phil

Congratulations to Anthony Munez for winning the November 4, 2011 weekly at SRO. He has been consistently finishing in the top 4 and his easy wins over Syed, Ramiro, Albert, Mark have earned him a level promotion to 3. His first words when he learned he had been moved up were, About Time!!!!! And he was very happy. Thats awesome!!!!

Good Job Anthony. I agree that it is 'about time' for you to be a level three. I assumed you were a level three at weekly events already. Now we will see if Anthony can hold onto the points lead for 2011 Weeklies. He's already earned his spot in the tournament of champions.

SPEAKING OF TOURNAMENT OF CHAMPIONS; THERE ARE ONLY 8 MORE WEEKLIES BEFORE THE END OF THE YEAR TO EARN A SPOT IN THE TOURNAMENT OF CHAMPIONS. MANY STRONG HOUSTON PLAYERS ARE NOT IN THE LIST OF WINNERS.

There are four more weekly tournaments left. There will be a Tournament of Champions later in beginning of the 2012, so if you have not qualified for that COME OUT AND PLAY.

We had Steven A. winning a couple of weeks ago and being promoted to a level 2.
This week we had Avery Y. winning and he is also now promoted to level 3.

Congratulations to these up and coming youngsters.
Who will win next win?

Come and find out...........

Last year Donovan Brown earned his way into the tournament of champions on the last Weekly tournament. The tournament is a lot of fun.

Yes, thanks Peter; I enjoyed playing you once last night:)

Way I see it is that the Ole Cat Phil went away for three months and the mice did play. Now the Cat hobbles back catching dem mice. And breaking them with his cane.
