I have created a new web page where EVERYONE can enter match or set results (as long as they are logged in to their AHW account).

Click on the "Challenges" link above, and then the top link on that page: "Enter Match Results"

Or here's a direct link: http://airhockeyworld.com/matchentry.asp

When you're there, you'll see all of the recently entered matches. There's a link at the top to enter a new match. You can use this to enter new matches and update the matches that you've created. You can also delete your own matches, as long as the ratings haven't been applied. Once you are finished entering in the match and have "finalized" the results, one of the ratings admininstrators will have access to apply the ratings changes.

You'll also see a "Copy Match" link next to each match. This will allow you to quickly create a new match with the same location, match configuration and players. I see this tool being used to help create a bunch of matches for the same location and the same match type... for example, if there are a bunch of challenge sets played on the same day in Houston or Chicago.

Please do your best to enter results correctly, and check the scores before you "Finalize" the match. Matches can always be re-entered, but the less matches we have to "undo", the better!

Can we get a direct link from the home page or maybe a button near the scoreboard? I think it would be nice for people that stumble upon the site to quickly see that matches can be entered.

Hey Travis, when you're fingers are working better do you think you can add a share button to the match results pages so we can post challenge matches on Facebook? Or, can we have challenge matches automatically be shared on Facebook?

Those are both good ideas -- I'll get on them when I have all 10 digits back. :)

Hey Travis, because I know you have NOTHING else to do, I was thinking it would be nice to allow people to add a direct link to a match video from the match results screen. Just thought it might make it easier for people to track down match video on specific matches.

That's a great idea... that's actually on my to-do list already. :) But before that, I need to set up the ability to create video "playlists", because that would be needed if the match spans more than one video.

I know this may seem like an annoyance to some, but I feel like when matches are submitted to ahw.com, both players should have to agree on the final scorecard. Just like the challenge list is setup, after one player enters the match, the other should be sent an email to confirm the results. Instead of the apply ratings link, rating should be applied after the match has been confirmed. I think if we plan on getting larger, this type of verification is necessary. This would be only for challenge matches or ratings sets, not tournament entries.

Just piggybacking off of Chris' idea, I think maybe the ability to input the name of the ref/witnesses might be helpful. Then all could be sent an e-mail, and as soon as any 2 people have confirmed the results the ratings would be updated.

Questions for Q or Travis:

Once a Mitic Rating set is entered and finalized incorrectly as a USAA Challenge Match, is there a way to edit the set without deleting it and re-entering it?

Second, I entered a Mitic Rating set between Alex Ortiz and August Parra.
Alex Ortiz won the set and he received 60-70 rating points, but August did not lose any. I see that Alex Ortiz is showing up as INACTIVE, is that the reason or .... ? And why isn't he ACTIVE (criteria?)?

Thx

Alex will be inactive or provisional until he played 50 games against 5 different people. He only plays August.

I think once its finalized, only Travis can fix it.

I'm working on having a way for the people that have access to apply the ratings to also be able to roll them back. It can get a bit complicated though, since an earlier match affects future matches' calculations.

Instead of messing with how to fix the problem can we focus on the cause? Travis, can you set the match creation page to not allow a person entering a match to select a Challenge Match if less that 5 sets are selected? This might at least minimize the occurrences.

Or, can we just create 2 links, one for Challenge Matches and One for Ratings Sets so the drop down menu isn't needed that allows you to select either.

I can do that. Right now, if you choose "USAA Challenge Match", it automatically sets the number of sets needed to win to 4. If you choose "AHW Rating Set", it automatically sets it to 1.

If they select less than 3 sets, I can have it automatically change it to "Rating Set" rather than "Challenge Match", and vice-versa.

I can't keep people from putting in the wrong scores, though.
