| I just saw this documentary last night. It was very good. It is about 2 players going for the donkey kong world record. The sub culture is very similar to air hockey and one individual will definately remind you of one of our air hockey brethren.

Care to post a link Theon? I think this is the trailer to what you are referring to, going back to the early 80's with these guys. Mind you, at 0.20 seconds into the trailer, i swear i saw Mark Robbins in a referee jersey. :)~

I absolutely LOVE that movie!  It's one of my favorite films of the last 10 years, and I agree with Theon - the subculture is pretty similar to Air Hockey (although actually far nerdier, if you can believe that). I've met Steve Wiebe and Walter Day in person, and yes, Walter and Mark Robbins share many similarities. 
I've also spoken to the folks who made the movie, and Seth Gordon (Director) is friends with Eric Anderson and knew about Way of the Puck several years ago when I spoke with him at a private showing at EA. I'd like to think that movies like King of Kong have helped pave the way and drew more attention to movies like Way of the Puck, and I've seen more of these game-related documentaries lately that seem to continue this trend, like "Special When Lit" which is all about pinball. (and also has many parallels to Air Hockey)

This is a great, very entertaining documentary. Surprisingly, there are a lot of parallels to the Air Hockey world... even in some of the "characters" of the Donkey Kong underworld.
Billy Mitchell is a very Weissman-James-Stubbs-esque character with a larger than life ego (with hair comparable to our own Jason Stevens).
Walter Day, the founder of Twin Galaxies, an international organization that tracks high score statistics for the worldwide electronic video gaming hobby, is earily similar to a Robbins-Arnold type character.
Of course, the unsung Donkey Kong hero, Steve Weibe... well, he's the Danny Hynes of the Donkey Kong world.
If you haven't seen it already, definitely check out the movie. If I'm not mistaken, I believe it's on Netflix.
