I watched a bit of the world table tennis championships on the U.S. sports channel. Two Chinese guys were in the semifinal - Wang Hao won and went on to the finals. What I like about him is, after every point he scores, he yells out, "Taw!". I guess that's the Chinese version of "Huyygnh!" :)

Another thing of interest: like AH, there's seems to be a very high level of integrity and sportsmanship. These guys are team-mates as well. At one point, they both thought there was a net serve, but the ref didn't see it. They both stopped playing in the middle of the point. I gather that the ref isn't REQUIRED to do what the players want, but - in table tennis - the tradition (like AH) is that, if both players agree, the ref should follow what the players want. And he did - the point was replayed.

Ha, I was watching the same thing at the same time. I saw all of that. You right. If they put rails around those tables it would make quite a sport.

But what I really liked were the various grips used for spins, forehands, backhands. They had special grips for special shots. Plus their mallets/paddles could be used front or back, depending on what they wanted to hit the ball with. Each side could be its own different material.

This led to lots of tactics and strategies being used by them.

Said the top players in China were between 22 and 25; by 27 you were pushing it. But you have to run in table tennis; so I think that adds 50 years to ah longevity where you get to prop yoself like a cane:)
