A long time reader decided to finally join the party 
Looking for getting some interesting games for kids (and for us, adults, too!) into approximately 30' X 18' room. And of course air hockey is among them. I was glad to find many recommendations in general section, but it's a bit tricky to choose. We had only a typical shop-class table before, so as for now I'm eyeing Viper: https://www.amazon.com/Viper-Vancouver-7-5-Foot-Hockey-Table/dp/B003OEXP8I/
Still it would be easier to choose if there was a brand that has the same level like a Ferrari to cars, or Tornado to foos tables (at least according to reviews - https://wisepick.org/best-foosball-table/).
But I brought it to the off-topic section since I'd like to know from your experiences what other games do you suggest for a game room. Any ideas are welcomed!

Depends on your taste in games - depends on what you mean by "aren't terribly expensive".
We got a dart board and also a ping pong table, even though it mostly used by my kids these days. You can find it here: https://pingpongacademy.org/
I also got a separate table from IKEA for our tabletop gatherings.
