A drift is controlling the Puck on your side of the table to set up a shot. A good basic drift for the cross for a right handed player would be to start the Puck in the bottom left of the table and drift to the top left of your side. You want to strike the Puck in a spot that you can also shoot a left wall bank shot.

Drifting is moving the puck around on your side to set up your shot.
Many of the best players use very simple drifts, but you can get as complicated as you want. The most important thing is having control before you take a shot.

Don't you mean to start the puck in the bottom right of the table and drift to the top left?
