Hi, we want to get an air hockey table for our basement. I realise that most on here use regulation 8ft tables, and agree that would be the best, and I see them available on CL. However, I don't see an 8ft, 400lb+ table fitting down our bulkhead or twisting stairs. I made a mockup of a 7ft table, and that does fit down our bulkhead. Also, while we have a good size basement, I don't like how much space it would take.
We aren't ever going to play competively, we just want to play for fun, but want adults to be able to enjoy it as well as our kids as they grow up.
I found TWO (three if count both of the gold pro models) 7ft tables that seem be of decent quality and are large puck type tables. Ignoring the price, does anyone have any idea which would be of better quality/play better. I have not found much info comparing these two models.
I realise the gold pro line makes the 'standard' for 8ft tables. But how does their 7ft compare to great american? the great american sounds more 'solid' since it weighs 425lbs.

consider these almost the same table: http://www.americansupersports.com/GOLDPROELITE.html or http://www.americansupersports.com/GOLDSTANPRO.html
Thanks!

My recommendation is the gold standard home pro. I have played on it, it's as close to an 8 foot sanction table as you will get. You could go with the home pro elite, it plays the same, just has a larger cabinet.

My company manufacturers the 7' Gold Standard Home Pro and Home Pro Elite models you mention. They are the best tables at their price point, but they are not commercial-grade tables like the Dynamo Pro-Style 7' or the Great American 7'. Those 7' tables are heavier with stronger blowers, but of course they will cost more.
The pricing on the web site you were using shows $3149 for the 7' Pro-Style, and $1895 for the Great American 7', but the latter comes with manual scoring, not electronic. The 7' Great American with electronic scoring will cost you $2529 (recrooms.com).
Our Home Pro and Home Pro Elite models are the same playfield, rails, blower, etc., the only difference being a deeper cabinet and thicker legs on the Elite. Price $1529;$1659. Our tables include electronic scoring.
So while I would like to sell our tables, we don't make a commercial-grade, 400 lb. 7-footer. We only make commercial-grade tables in the 8' size. If you want the very best 7' table and price is no object, the 7' Pro-Style would be your best bet, followed by a Great American. If price matters and you want a good 7' table with large puck and good play action, our Home Pro/Elite line would be a good choice. The GSG 7' tables are also lighter (220 or 270 lbs.) with a smaller cabinet, so easier to move and maneuver into a basement.
If you're willing to buy used, you would search for a used 7' Dynamo Blue Streak (coin) or 7' Pro-Style.
To see a video of the Gold Standard 7' table, go to recrooms.com.
Hope this helps.
