|I was really worried about playing against Goran about 3 years ago. I knew that he was playing a lot, and I didn't want to overlook him. I felt he was a real up and comer, the way I had been, and all the top players had pretty much overlooked me for awhile. When my back feels against the corner, that's when I'm at my best, and I beat Goran pretty badly.
Well, 3 years have passed, and he's had some nice wins over a couple of Masters, and a lot of near wins that could've pushed him deeper into tournaments. We are all still waiting for a breakthrough, but now with a wife and baby, it might get super tough.
Goran's game is mostly transition, speed, style, more transition. I think he has the ability to adapt against the top players defenses, he just hasn't put forth the effort. To beat the best, you really need to be able to stop them on big points, and he's pretty much wide open at times. Maybe in a few years he will feel the urge to really bear down on defense, until then, he's a solid top 16 player, but is 3-4 levels away from greatness.
