Trophies and my AH Table
5/22/2007 8:29:57 AM
Ordered a 32" HD LCD tv for my rec room. This is going to be my computer/media center monitor. Decided it should go above my fireplace, since I don't use the fireplace. Now where do I stick my 20+ AH trophies since 1999? There's also a couple of Tae Kwon Do trophies/medals, softball, basketball, Little League, chess(tiny one), and even one for a spelling bee. Trophies are pretty ridiculous, especially the HUGE ones. Are we trying to compensate for something by having these structures erected for ourselves? What's most embarrassing is that many of the huge ones were for 3rd or 4th place. I left one at Jesse's house one time that was bigger than any of my other trophies, and it was only for 4th at the TSO. He was nice enough to ship it to me 3-4 years later, after I told him not to worry about it, just chuck it if he wants to. It took a lot of work, but I moved all of them to the garage, on the top shelf next to my AH table. They actually look a lot better when stacked tightly together. I think they are way more appropriate in the garage. I'm sure people snickered at all the reminders of how great I am at AH, just like I would probably smile or laugh under my breath if I saw such a display at someone else's home. It's like, dude, get over yourself already. Now, I only have my 2007 WC trophies on display(next to my Barry Bonds/Willie Mays 660 autographed display). These are simply beautiful and tasteful, (Thanks Rosen!). A few friends have said that they are much better than previous ones. So one phase conquered, I'm secure enough in myself that I don't need to show off my cheesy trophies or tell people how great I am(except I sorta did in the beginning of this post, but hey, at least I am self aware :)

My poor AH table has seen no love lately. It is probably in the worst shape ever since I've had it. My bathroom is being remodeled, and the guy leaves the garage open all day, I've been dusting and cleaning, so my tabletop is covered with dust. I'm not smart enough to keep it covered. Actually, I didn't have it covered, because for the past 4 years, I had a deep relationship with my table. When I was on the hunt, I would think about AH almost everyday. Billy told me to stroke the table everytime I walked by it. So I did, I cared for my table and gave it much affection. After the initial courtship, I pleaded with it to tell me it's secrets, to show me love in return. For years, it told me that it was not ready to reveal itself to me. Then one foggy xmas eve.....
