|This was the real beginning of my development. Nizzi and I were up and coming players, and he just had a break thru tourney, finishing 5th. I remember a funny moment at the reception, Danny told me that he thought I really should be finishing higher than my 17th place finish. I didn't mention that we had lost to the same players that tourney, Nizzi and Jose.
I was fortunate enough to get my own table. I decided to try to copy the best shots from all the players, and the most devasting shot in the game was Jose's cross. I would hit crosses for hours, and developed tendinitis from practicing so much. I then worked on my other weakness, which was LWU. This was a tough shot to master, but has become one of the potent parts of my offense.
Nizzi was kind enough to share many insights he had gained from studying game film, and what to look for when watching tape. I began watching footage(courtesy of my practice partner Joe Cain), and would really try to key in on little details. I was still a long ways away, but was finally on the right track.
