Hi,

First post here. I've been doing lots of reading as I'm hoping to add an AH table to our finished basement. A few things first.

1. Not able to fit an 8 foot table. No walkout and while it's a large stairway, no way to fit that large down.

2. I actually made a wood frame model of 8 foot dimension and while I was able to get it down, I only had the depth of the wood and not the thickness of the actual board. I just don't think there is anyway to get a full table down there.

On to the main question. I want an AH table to play against my wife as we've always had fun playing. Also we would have this for having friend game night and doing some AH battles with some beers.

Is the gameplay of 7 foot, even the home pro elite quality, going to give me enough of the "bar" feel of a commercial 8 foot? I know it's not going to be the same but would that be close to what I want or am I going to be disappointed?

I actually talked to recrooms and the person I talked to said I'd be disappointed with the 7 foot. She mentioned the 8 foot can technically be taken apart a bit to help fit but that makes me nervous. Of course price keeps increasing as well.

Maybe AH just isn't in the cards for me based on what I want and my basement. Don't want to spend 1800 and be disappointed. I'm confident in quality of table, but 7 foot play leaves me concerned and unable to try it out.

Thanks for any thoughts!

Gold standard 7 foot is quality. You can take apart an 8 foot Dynamo arcade style, the pro style with the dark blue top, or the photon (light blue top) are the easiest to disassemble because they use bolts instead of finish nails like the older tables.

Thanks Goran. I'm definitely sure on the pro elite quality. What are your thoughts on playing on 7 footer? Is the gameplay way different with just the 1 foot difference? I've only ever played on 8 foot bar style but the weight and physically getting it to my basement probably can't happen, 7 foot much more doable.

My fear is spending 1800 and not enjoying it the same.

Another note, this table is for myself, wife, and friends. Kids are both under 3 so a while before they play!

Thanks

You will be happy with the gold standard 7 foot table. It is pretty close to playing on a 8 foot sanctioned table.
