I will post some pictures of the laest AH table, out from Namco. This is a $19,000 AH table! I don't think they'll sell more than a few.

Super wide goals, huge clunky mallets, little pucks, crazy lights and sounds. After about a minute the table releases a cascade of little pucks onto the surface and there's a wild flurry of hitting multiple pucks before the game times out after around 2 minutes.

This is an extreme example of the gimmickry that is now predominant in the AH market. The wilder, noisier and goofier, the better.

With Gold Standard Games I'm trying to preserve the real spirit of AH that we all know and love. We are just finishing production on some of the first coin tables. Please help us by spreading the word and getting real AH out there to the masses.

Here's a demo video: http://arcadeheroes.com/2012/08/08/first-look-unique-pac-man-smash-air-hockey-coming-to-north-america/

Mark, I tried doing a GSG search on that Web site to see if there was an article about your table. Didn't see any...Be neat to see one show up there.

Q, thanks for letting me know about that site. I will make sure to send them info. We are close to launching the goldstandardairhockey.com web site, which will have player content as well as info for coin-op and retail buyers.

Mark - you never mentioned that it was a Pac-Man themed table! That tie-in alone is probably going to get a handful of operators to buy one. :p

Believe it or not, some places actually buy this table. I saw one at Round One in Puente Hills, CA. Along with two of the Sega virtual tables ($17,000 ea).

I saw some people playing the Pac-Man table, and when the 20 or so little pucks come pouring onto the table, they're so light that some get hit off the table and roll under other games, etc.

Actually helps with your marketing because your pricing is a great alternataive to theirs. Before this expensive FrankenTable, you did have such a high price to contrast yours with.
